Biography: Dr. Pauline Monde-Cheelo is a specialist in Environmental Education and Management within the Department of Language and Social Sciences Education at the School of Education. With over a decade of experience, she is an accomplished Environmental Educator, specializing in environmental governance, management, and pedagogical approaches to environmental education. Her areas of expertise include ecosystem sustainability, environmental management, and the integration of indigenous knowledge in sustainability practices.
She holds a PhD in Ecosystem Sustainability from the University of Zambia, where her research focused on urban ecosystem sustainability. She also earned a Master’s in Environmental Education from the same institution, examining barriers to effective environmental education implementation in schools.
Her research portfolio includes notable projects such as:
• “Rekindling Environmental Education in Selected Schools of Kanyama, Lusaka District” (sponsored by the University of Zambia’s Directorate of Research and Development).
• “Agricultural Land and Food Environments at a Crossroads in Urbanizing Lusaka: Placing Food Systems on the Urban Planning Agenda” (supported by the Directorate of Research and Graduate Studies).
• “Women and Natural Resource Conservation: A Study of Chongwe District.”
